Alexandra Jamroz

I was born and raised in a Polish-speaking art-filled home in Pittsburgh, PA. Both of my parents worked in artistic fields, my father an urban planner/architect, my mother an interior designer. I learned how to make things at a very early age out of wood, fabric, just about anything I could find!  Today I use this creativity to make metal accessories for both men and women. I use copper, brass, Argentium silver, Horween leather, semi-precious stones, pearls and wooden Polish beads, and amber in my work.

Each piece is hand-designed and made with a minimal amount of hand tools at my home studio. My inspirations come from walks along the lake at Montrose Beach, bike rides across the city and visits to the Chicago Cultural Center (my favorite building).

The name MAKA Designs came to me as an ode to my sweet Dachshund, Jamicia (nickname, Maica). She was beloved by all and was a fierce hunter of many tennis balls.
