Transistor Radio for the month of July 2016

This month on In Store: Selections From Transistor's Live Performance Archive, host Jon Monteverde has recordings from Protman and Mystery Crash, both recorded on Friday nights at our previous location on Broadway.

We have two Bring Your Own Beat contributions this month, one featuring the ambient guitar and electronics of hicksoncompactgroup, the other the experimental electro-ambient duo Trenchalant.

Episode 13 of the White City Cinema Radio Hour features an extended dialogue between host Michael Smith and his Chicago Independent Film Critics Circle co-founder (and Kankakee Valley Daily Journal film critic) Pamela Powell (pictured). Smith and Powell begin by discussing what the CIFCC is and why they felt the need to form a second film critics' organization in Chicago and then engage in a dialogue about the year in movies so far - culminating with a rap session about their mutual love of Whit Stillman's LOVE & FRIENDSHIP.

This month on Interlopin', DJ Tashtego meanders through the second half of last year's finest dance tracks, this time with a more reflective vibe that builds to some major-minor heartstring-tugging. It's the rooftop-stargazing cousin to Part I's basement jam sesh, with electric, nebulous tracks from the likes of Fort Romeau, Rex The Dog, John Talabot, Lindstrom, Bicep, and Julio Bashmore. The set closes with some bittersweet symphonies from Koelsch and The Chemical Brothers.

This month's Blame It On the Boogie: Disco, Funk and Soul from DJ Lechstafari is an all-vinyl set recorded live in store Sunday June 19th.

On Sideshow, DJ Bloodshot Scott features tracks from new Bloodshot titles, all of them released in 2016. He rounds out the show with other timeless favorites. The best of new 2016 releases, through mid-year, with a nod to those artists who got the label here. Simply the best of the best!

The Good Music Show has love Songs and some not so lovely songs for spring (and summer), with indie rock to noisy pop from the likes of My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Band of Horses and Bedhead.

Stereo Hysteria host Charlie Crane has an hour of songs that fall under the category of Slow, not by tempo but title and theme.  Hear tracks from David Bowie, Tegan and Sara, The Rolling Stones, The The and more.

And at the top of the player, Andy Miles kicks things off with 15 Songs.

Transistor Radio is the monthly webcast of Transistor. Tune in to hear programs featuring indie & archival rock, Americana, electronica, house, tracks from our live performance archive, original sound pieces specially made for Transistor Radio, interview and discussion programs, and more.
