Transistor Radio for the week of March 10-16, 2015
This week “Bring Your Own Beat” goes international with Berlin contemporary classical trio XelmYa, who will be performing live at Transistor this Friday night, the 13th of March. Tune in to hear three original pieces for recorder and strings. Jon Monteverde has indie folk from pared down versions of Chicago bands Rows of Arrows and Many Places on “In Store: Selections From Transistor’s Life Performance Archive.” “Blame It On the Boogie: Deep and Dirty Disco From Lechstafari” returns after a week off with an all-vinyl set, and “Interlopin’” has part two of a two-part look back at DJ Tashtego’s favorite songs of 2014. On this week’s edition of “The Good Music Show,” hosts Scott and Odie offer up a slew of late ‘70s and '80s favorites from Nick Lowe and Elvis Costello, The Jesus & Mary Chain and The Fall, My Bloody Valentine and Ride, Echo & The Bunnymen and The Smiths – what we used to call college and modern rock. And at the bottom of the player tune in for Charlie Crane’s interview with Detroit singer-songerwriter Mathew Smith of The Volebeats and Outrageous Cherry. As always, Andy Miles’ '15 Songs’ leads things off with a mix of indie rock and electropop (+ more).
Transistor Radio is the weekly webcast of Transistor. Tune in to hear programs featuring indie & archival rock, Americana, electronica, house, tracks from our live performance archive, original sound pieces specially made for Transistor Radio, interview and discussion programs, and more.
