Transistor Radio for the week of April 28-May 4, 2015

This week on In Store: Selections From Transistor’s Live Performance Archive, host Jon Monteverde features a 2012 live recording of “beats, trumpet and gypsy music” created by Chicago trumpeter Gerald Bailey working under the name Charles Mantis. Bring Your Own Beat has an original piece by Chicago tenor saxophonist Chris Weller, who will perform with his group Open Forum Project this Friday night at Transistor. DJ Tashtego has “lined up a gauntlet of certified grooves and let them topple under the force of the almighty beat” in his new mix for Interlopin, “Domino Disco.” Andrea Garces’Gems of the Week offers a blend of electronica, future R&B, soul and beats. DJ Bloodshot Scott’s got a Bloodshot Records showcase on Sideshow and Stereo Hysteria returns with the musical theme Trouble. At the top of the player, as always, it’s 15 Songs presented by Andy Miles; this week he has new music from Prefuse 73, Speedy Ortiz and Lord Huron. We hope you’ll have a listen.
