Transistor Radio for the week of July 1-7, 2015

This week on In Store: Selections From Transistor’s Live Performance Archive, host Jon Monteverde features a 2014 recording by Chicago-based duo Videobug, who “bind dreamy escapism with dense rhythmic textures.” In the second part of his desert island set for Interlopin, Tashtego mixes the dance tracks that would fuel many a lonely tropical bonfire with blissful beats. Many of these tracks – from The Chemical Brothers, Deadmau5, The Field, Gui Boratto, and Crystal Castles – represent Tashtego’s first excursions into the many permutations of house and techno that are currently his standbys. And it’s fitting that these tracks are blended with the lush and visceral sounds of My Bloody Valentine, Deerhunter, Modest Mouse and Sigur Ros. The spirit of escape is the same, even if the BPMs are not. Blame It On The Boogie: Deep & Dirty Disco, Funk & Soul from Lechstafari has an all-vinyl set and Scott & Odie are back with indie rock and underground sounds past, present and future on The Good Music Show. This week’s original sound piece forBring Your Own Beat comes from experimental duo Earsatzm. And as always, Andy Miles kicks things off with 15 Songs. We hope you’ll have a listen.
