Transistor Radio for the week of September 30-October 6, 2015

This week sees the return of Depth of Field, a mix of news, music and conversation concerning all things Transistor. DoF contributor Danielle Echols talks to visual anthropologist and documentary filmmaker Ife Olatunji and Chicago filmmaker Lonnie Edwards about the Collected Voices film festival happening in Chicago all through October. Plus, a rundown of events taking place at Transistor in October.

On In Store: Selections From Transistor’s Live Performance Archive, host Jon Monteverde features a 2012 live performance by Jon Langford, accompanied that February night by Jim Elkington (guitar) and Julian Dawson (harmonica, guitar, vocals).

The Good Music Show has a set of classic underground and punk, with music from Sonic Youth, The Cramps, Big Black, Jesus Lizard, and Blame It On The Boogie: Disco, Funk and Soul from Lechstafari is back with an all-new all-vinyl DJ set. At the bottom of this week’s player, Andrea Garces’ Gems of the Week are a mix of nu-jazz, beats, swing, hip-hop, downtempo, and trip-hop.

As always, Andy Miles leads things off with 15 Songs, a mix of indie rock and electropop.

We hope you’ll have a listen.
